カスタムタグ (custom tag) Internet Explorer 5 が実装した機能。 html に xmlns:* 属性を指定して名前空間接頭辞を宣言することで、その名前空間接頭辞と : から始まる要素名が使えるようになる。また、 DHTML behaviors でその挙動を記述できる。 Microsoft Office の HTML 形式での入出力は、 HTML や CSS で記述できないものをこの機能と同形の要素で記述していた。 XML Namespaces 仕様に基づくとされるが、当時の仕様案 (名前の通り XML 用) を HTML 用に改変したもので、現行仕様とは異なる。
