[27] 西暦1990年代まで各種符号が乱立していました。

[28] Web では VN3, VISCII, VNI, VPS が混在していました。 文字コードに近い翻字として VIQR もよく使われました。 ダイアクリティカルマークのない基本ラテン文字の代用表記もありました。

[29] 21世紀に入ってすぐに急速に UTF-8 への移行が進み、 頃にもなると主要サイトはあらかた Unicode 化されていた模様です。

VIQR, VISCII query search (VPS, VNI may work but we have never tested)

VIS can "understand" Vietnamese in VIQR query. When it accepts a VIQR query, it will translate into VISCII, VPS, VNI and so on to find similar documents.
