ISO 4217 通貨符号

[2] ISO 4217 は、通貨符号を規定する ISO の国際標準です。

[3] ISO 4217 は世界各国の通貨に対してラテン文字3文字の通貨符号 (currency code) を定義しています。

割当

[17] 基本的には 2文字の国符号の後に1文字足して3文字の符号となります。いずれの文字も基本ラテン文字です。

[18] 大文字と小文字の区別はないようですが、定義上すべて大文字となっています。

[20] 近年まで用いられていたものの既に廃止された通貨や、デノミの前のものにも符号が割り当てられており、再利用はされないようです。

[21] 比較的最近のものだけで、過去の歴史的な通貨には割り振られていないようです。

[22] 言語符号や国符号とは違って、私用の符号は割り当てられていないようです。

特別な符号

[19] 特別な用途の符号や地域の通貨の符号は X から始まる3文字の符号が用いられています。金、銀などにも符号が割り振られています。

[24] 国名符号や言語符号とは異なり、通貨符号は IETF や W3C では余り使っていません。

[25] W3C の原案 Common Markup for micropayment per-fee-links http://www.w3.org/TR/Micropayment-Markup/#Appendix%207 では、次のような符号を使っています。

ISO 4217 に基づく名前は、それをそのまま使う。
私用名は、先頭に x- をつける。
- 例として、航空会社のマイルの通貨符号 x-AM-zz (zz は航空会社符号。) が挙がっています。
なお、その共通マーク付けでの使用においては、

私用名には必ず URI を添えさせることで一意性を保証しています。

より正確には:

a four to ten letters currency name beginning with "x-" to be used by any system with some risk of collision. In addition, one can also mention a meta-escape sequence; a new reserved prefix "z-" indicating any string starting with "z-" has "z-" removed from it before use. (e.g. z-x-u turns into x-u as a registered code, not into an x- extension string).
4〜10文字の通貨名で x- で始まるものは、任意のシステムに於いて衝突の危険はあるものの使うことが出来ます。加えて、メタ・エスケープ・シーケンスのもあります。新たに予約する接頭辞 z- は、 z- で始まる任意の文字列は使用する前に z- を削除することを示します (例えば z-x-u は登録符号である x-u であって、 x- の拡張文字列ではないことになります)。

[26] z- をどういうときに使うのかいまいちはっきりしませんが、 W3C かどっかがこの仕様書案の時点で将来用意する予定だった登録簿に x- で始まる名前を登録可能とし、それが私用名と衝突しないようにする配慮なんですかね? (ISO 符号は3文字のラテン文字だけで構成されるはずだから、絶対に衝突しないし。)

The number of decimals after the dot for this currency. This is important to know as 'amount' has to be specified in the smallest unit of the currencyCode. The value will be 2 for most currencies but can sometimes be 3
