I'll send a formal announcement but it looks like, overall, the XML
Core Working Group has done the work it was chartered to do, that "Web
SGML" (XML) was a success, and that a lack of resources in maintaining
errata and making relatively small changes is no surprise.
So, congratulations and many thanks to the Working Group and its
chairs. We'll close the group probably at the end of this month.
if there is interest in future work on any of the specs (including, of
course, XInclude), it should happen in an XML community group; we can
then charter a light-weight Working Group to publish Recommendations as
