[48] 旧 HTML WG が XHTML2 WG となり、 HTML5 のための新 HTML WG が設立された改組で、同時に XForms の WG も新 Forms WG として改めて設立されました。
[49] 同一目的の技術の開発を禁じている W3C では、 HTML (含む WF2) の HTML WG と、 XHTML2 と XForms の XHTML2 WG/Forms WG が並立するのは異例の事態でした。
[50] W3C は WF2 に対抗するため、 XForms 自体に加え、 XForms を理論的背景に HTML を拡張する新技術 XForms Transitional を Forms WG で開発することとしました。
[51] しかし既に開発完了し実装もされていた WF2 に対し、 XForms Transitional は提唱者自体すら早々に飽きて撤退したため、 Forms WG は事実上 XForms 専業の状態でした。
[52] その XForms すら、ほとんど業界からは無視された状態で、 参加者の少ない Forms WG に避ける資源はないとして、 ついに W3C に取り潰されました。

I'm working on renewing charters for all the XML Working Groups right
now, and have the opportunity to include XForms in the XML Activity.
