[2] CSS4 (CSS Level 4) は CSS の4つ目の水準でした。 CSS3 もまだ完成していませんが、既に一部のモジュールは水準4の原案が存在していました。
[3] CSS2 の後 CSS 仕様書はモジュール化され、
それぞれの「水準」で出版されるようになりました。これに伴いモジュールの水準4 (以上)
は存在しますが、 CSS 全体の水準4は存在しない >>5
というのが現在の CSSWG の方針となっています。
[6] つまり、現在「CSS4」が存在する (または今後制定される) と説明する文献は、すべて誤りであり、信用してはいけません。

CSS Level 4 and beyond
There is no CSS Level 4. Independent modules can reach level 4 or beyond, but CSS the language no longer has levels. ("CSS Level 3" as a term is used only to differentiate it from the previous monolithic versions.)
