加えて[[国]]内主要都市のリストがあって、どのパターンを採用しているかと、
[[経緯度]]、[[地方時]]の値が記載されています (この[[都市]]リストの割合がかなり高い)。

[[米国]]版の一部の[[州]]には数行程度の補足説明があるのを除いて、

[59] この種のデータベース ([[時差の表]]) の中では前にも後にもこれを超えるものはない詳細なものです。

[60] しかし [[tzdata]] が誤りとして不採用にしている箇所も多く、
内容の正確性には疑問が残るものです。データの出典が説明されていないため、
再検証することも困難です。

[61] 本書ではすべての変更が[[分]]単位で記述されていますが、
実施の根拠となる[[法令]]でそもそも[[日]]単位でしか規定されておらず切り替え時刻の根拠が不明なものや、
切り替え時期が不明でおおよその時期を示したに過ぎないのではないかと疑われるデータもあります。
しかし不正確かもしれないという旨も特に注記はありません。

[[日付]]が不明の場合、1月1日としている可能性が高いと思われます。

* tzdata との関係

[56] [[Shanks]] は、 [[tzdata]] が基本的なデータの出典としている書籍です [SRC[>>7]]。

[63] [[Astrolabe]] は[[著作権]]侵害であると[[提訴]]しましたが、
[[EFF]] が [[tzdata]] 側の立場から介入した結果、
[[標準時]]変更という事実を出典として用いただけであるから[[著作権]]侵害ではないとして主張は取り下げられました
[SRC[>>15]]。

[77] [[Shanks]] は世界中の[[都市]]の[[緯度]]・[[経度]]やそれぞれの[[時間帯]]の変遷を詳細に記述しているのに対し、
[[tzdata]] は1970年以後の異なりに限った[[時間帯]]の変遷で、
[[近代的標準時制度]]以前の[[都市]]ごとの[[時刻]]の違いはカバーしておらず、
両者のボリュームはまったく違います。 [[tzdata]] には [[Shanks]]
出版以後の[[標準時]]の改正や過去の情報の修正もかなり含まれています。
[[データベース]]として見ても、両者はまったく別物といえます。
