両者が [[XML]] を使っていたのに対し、 [[Webmention]] は特殊なプロトコルは使わずに
[[HTTP]] だけで実現しています。

* 発見

[25] 送信者は、[[リンク先]]の[[文書]]から[[リンク型]] [DFN[[CODE[webmention]]]] の[[リンク]]を探すことにより、
[[Webmention]] の送信先を[[発見]]しなければならないとされています。

* 送信

[26] 送信は、[[リンク元]]と[[リンク先]]の [[URL]] を
[CODE(MIME)@en[application/x-www-form-urlencoded]] 形式で [CODE[POST]]
することにより行われます。

* 確認

[27] 受信者は、受信した[[リンク元]]の [[URL]] の[[文書]]に実際に[[リンク]]が含まれるかを確認しなければならないとされています。

[28] なお、[[リンク元]]が [CODE[410]] を返した時は受信者側の[[逆リンク]]リストから削除することが期待されており、
これによりリンクの通知 (追加) だけでなく削除も実現しています。
