[3] [[RFC 822]] 風のテキスト構文に [[XML名前空間]]風の[[名前空間]]を組み合わせた
(c.f. [[RFC 2774]]) ものでした。

[4] 同時期に [[XML]] ベースの [[Jabber]] が [[XMPP]] として [[IETF]]
で[[標準化]]されており、 [[CPIM]] も [[RFC]] になったものの、
誰も実装しませんでした。 (結果的に勝った [[XMPP]] も、 [[IM][即席メッセージ]]
市場全体から見れば微々たる勢力ですが。。。)

開発当時まだまだ [[RFC 822]] 風構文は人気があって派生形がいろいろあったので、
[[メール]]に近い [[IM]] というアプリケーションでもありますし、
それを採用したことは悪い選択ではなかったと思うんですよね。

でもそこに [[XML]] の失敗の最大要因の1つでもある [[XML名前空間]]に[[インスパイア]]されたのであろう[[名前空間]]を持ち込んだのは、
失敗でしたね。 [[HTTP]] に[[名前空間]]を持ち込んだ [[RFC 2774]]
が失敗したのと同じで、[[名前空間]]はこの時代の[[プロトコルの拡張性]]の手段として人気と期待が集まっていたのは事実なのですが、
全部が全部尽く失敗したというw

当時は (今もかなw) [[IETF]] の[[標準化]]は時間がかかり過ぎで、
スタートも遅いし進行も遅い、
なのに出来てきた物も微妙という[[委員会による設計]]アンチパターンのお手本みたいなもんでしたな。

最初から成功する見込みがなかった。
