* 呼称

[70] [[規格]]の名称は [CITE[[[Streams Standard]]]]
([DFN[[CITE[Streams]]]]) です。 [SRC[>>30]]

[71] かつては [DFN[[CITE[Streams API]]]] と呼ばれていました [SRC[>>1]]
が、現在の仕様書ではこの言い方はされていません。
が、一般的な語法として 「Streams API」ということは可能で、実際よく使われています。

[[Node.js]] 界隈では [DFN[Web Streams]] と呼ばれることがあります。
他の界隈に広く通用する呼称ではなさそうです。

[[単数形]]で [DFN[Stream]] と呼ばれることもあります。
公式には仕様全体を [[Stream]] と呼ぶことはなく、[[複数形]]の [[Streams]] 
で統一されているようです。公式に従うべきでしょう。
[[単数形]]で [[stream]] と言うのは、 [CITE[Streams Standard]]
仕様内で規定される [[readable stream]] や [[writable stream]]
のような個々の[[オブジェクト]] (の[[クラス]]) を指すときです。

[[stream]] には[[日本語]]の[[定訳]]がなく、[[日本語]]でも原綴通り
「Streams Standard」、
「stream」
と書くので良いと考えられます。
[[片仮名]]表記の方が望ましい場合は、
[[Streams]] も [[streams]] も[[単数形]]の[DFN[ストリーム]]と[[音訳]]するのが良いと考えられます。
