** 時間帯の呼称

代表[[都市]]の名前を使った識別子が与えられています。

** 標準時名

* 閏秒

な時刻用を生成するオプションがあります。

を頭に付けることで、 (本来[[閏秒のないUTC]]を採用しているはずの)
[[POSIX]] システムで[[閏秒]]を考慮した別の[[時間帯]]を選択できるようになっていました。
しかしこの方式は [CODE[localtime]] と [CODE[gmtime]] の[[差]]で[[時差]]を求める[[アプリケーション]]と互換性が無いことがわかり、
用いられなくなっています。 [SRC[>>43]]

[46] 本来[[閏秒]]の実施と[[時間帯]]・[[時差]]は[[直交]]する概念のはずですから、
そもそもこの仕組みには無理がありそうです。

* 情報源と管理

「1月1日0時0分」、「1日0時0分」、「0時0分」の場合省略されているようです。
[[Shanks]] (2003) は[[標準時]]と[[夏時刻]]の区別をせずに改正を時系列で並べていますが、
[[tzdata]] は基準の[[時差]]の定義と[[夏時刻]]実施規則の組み合わせという形で示しています。
こうした差異が、[[tzdata]] の独自のものなのか、
[[Shanks]] の古い版が新しい版と異なる表現方法を採用していたのかは不明です。
こうしたデータは、 [[tzdata]] としても古い時期から入っているものばかりではありますが、
明確な日時が不明なもののみならず、元の[[法令]]で細かな指定がある場合でも、
[[tzdata]] では省略されていることがあります。
