気象庁は、XML電文公開の手段としてPubSubHubbub(パブサブハバブ)を利用します。
PubSubHubbubは、publish/subscribe(出版/購読)型でオープンなプロトコルです。subscriber(利用者)が、publisher(気象庁)に対して定期的に更新情報を取得するのではなく、subscriberとpublisherの間にハブを仲介させて、publisher側からsubscriber側へ、情報の更新を知らせる通信プロトコルです。
PubSubHubbubを利用してXML電文を取得するためには、利用者はインターネット上からアクセス可能なサーバを立ち上げ、XML電文の更新情報をハブから受け取る必要があります。
