** 非公開時代

** 公開時代

[48] 旧 [[HTML WG]] が [[XHTML2 WG]] となり、 [[HTML5]] のための新 [[HTML WG]]
が設立された改組で、同時に [[XForms]] の [[WG]] も新 [[Forms WG]]
として改めて設立されました。

[49] 同一目的の技術の開発を禁じている [[W3C]] では、
[[HTML]] (含む [[WF2]]) の [[HTML WG]] と、
[[XHTML2]] と [[XForms]] の [[XHTML2 WG]]/[[Forms WG]]
が並立するのは異例の事態でした。

[50] [[W3C]] は [[WF2]] に対抗するため、
[[XForms]] 自体に加え、
[[XForms]] を理論的背景に [[HTML]] を拡張する新技術 [[XForms Transitional]]
を [[Forms WG]] で開発することとしました。

[51] しかし既に開発完了し実装もされていた [[WF2]] に対し、
[[XForms Transitional]] は提唱者自体すら早々に飽きて撤退したため、
[[Forms WG]] は事実上 [[XForms]] 専業の状態でした。

[52] その [[XForms]] すら、ほとんど業界からは無視された状態で、
参加者の少ない [[Forms WG]] に避ける資源はないとして、
ついに [[W3C]] に取り潰されました。
